International Applicants--Steps to Apply

  1. Complete our Online Application and request teacher recommendations. 
  2. Submit your Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score. The Woodlands Academy code is 7375. Woodlands will also accept the DuoLingo exam.
  3. Email admission@woodlandsacademy.org to schedule a campus visit or virtual video interview.
  4. SSAT scores OR email admission@woodlandsacademy.org to schedule an entrance exam.

Idyllic Campus

Our picturesque Lake Forest campus provides an idyllic place to live and learn. Lake Forest is one of Illinois' safest cities nestled on the shores of Lake Michigan. The lake is one of the world's largest bodies of fresh water. 

Robust ESL Program

Students take a placement test to determine their appropriate ESL level. They then take the TOEFL test yearly and remain in ESL until they earn a TOEFL score of 80 or above.

For TOEFL Scores 40-80

Woodlands Academy's ESL program supports students with TOEFL scores ranging from 40-80.

  • Advanced ESL

For TOEFL Scores 80+

 

Once a student scores an 80 or above on her TOEFL, she is in all mainstream classes, but still benefits from support for English language learners.

 

Dedicated International Student ADVISOR

 

The International Student advisor follows each student's academic progress, works with her to ease her transition to the American classroom, and helps ensure that she is fulfilling the requirements of each class. She is also the primary contact between the parents and the school regarding academic issues.
