Dear Woodlands Community,
When decisions in Springfield have the potential to adversely impact our families, it's our responsibility to talk about what hangs in the balance.
In this case, it's something called the Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Program, which is slated to end or "sunset" at the close of this year.
The need-based program allows people to donate to Woodlands Academy through Empower Illinois and Big Shoulders. Both are scholarship grant organizations (SGOs). In return, the donors get a tax credit from the state which fuels giving.
Since 2018, this scholarship has supported 58 Woodlands students for a total of $609,000. That goes a long way in helping us help families afford an excellent Sacred Heart Education.
If you want to preserve this giving mechanism that supports our families, please reach out to your state lawmakers to ask them to continue the Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Program by keeping it in the budget and removing the "sunset" provision.
Please use this form to contact legislators' offices or send them an email. Simply type in your name and address and the system will identify your state senator and state representative. You are welcome to use the pre-typed message or add your own personalized note.
