| A Reflection from Head of School |
Greetings Woodlands Academy Families and Friends, I hope you had a wonderful celebration of Easter and a restful and restorative break. As I shared with the students, faculty and staff at the Sacred Heart Awards Assembly this morning, we now begin the work that will bring a successful conclusion to this academic year. These days ahead will be laden with class projects and the demonstration of learning as well as celebrations and traditions associated with Spring and the close of the school year. These wonderfully warm spring days have found students picnicking on the lawn, having art class outside, and enjoying our beautiful campus. We have shed the cloak of winter and are looking forward with renewed hope and enthusiasm. In the coming seven weeks, together, we will prepare to honor the class of 2023. The juniors will begin to assume new leadership roles. The sophomores will hit the midpoint of their high school experience, and the freshmen will claim Woodlands even more strongly as "their school" as they look forward to welcoming a new class of ninth graders. Global Odyssey classes and trips will increasingly become the topic of conversation on the ride into school and at the dinner table. The Junior-Senior Prom is already on students' minds as they plan dresses and dates and, of course, an after-party! Network Summer Service Projects, being a camp counselor, learning to drive and afternoons at the lake bring much-anticipated joy. There is so much to look forward to and so much to celebrate. Before we get into the middle of it all, I wish to take this opportunity to say thank you. Thank you for the warm welcome you have offered me across this first year at Woodlands Academy; I am so delighted to be part of this community of Christ's Heart in Lake Forest. Most especially, thank you for sharing the gift of your daughter with all of us at Woodlands and for engaging in a partnership with us on her behalf. Wishing you the blessings of Eastertide, Dr. Susan Tyree Dempf Head of School |
