ESL Support
Applicants whose native language is not English must take the Duolingo English Test or the TOEFL. However, if an applicant has attended a school for three years or more where English is the primary language of instruction, an English proficiency test is not required.
*Woodlands Academy does offer additional ESL support on a case-by-case basis. The offerings are ESL I, ESL II & Advanced ESL.
TOEFL
A minimum score of 70 on the internet-based test (TOEFL iBT) indicates an applicant’s English skills are strong enough for full participation in our program.
Duolingo English Test
A minimum score of 105 on the Duolingo English test indicates an applicant's English skills are strong enough for full participation in our program.

International Airports
Woodlands Academy is comfortably situated between three international airports, making it easy & accessible for students to travel between home and Woodlands Academy.
- Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) is only a 30-minute drive from Woodlands Academy.
- Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) is 1-hour drive from Woodlands Academy
- General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) is a 50-minute drive from Woodlands Academy.

Woodlands Academy boasts a beautiful 41-acre campus just minutes from the Lake Michigan shoreline & is in between two thriving metropolises - Chicago & Milwaukee.
Chicago is a world-class city known for its architecture, vibrant music scene, amazing food, and iconic neighborhoods.
Milwaukee is a city known for festivals and celebrations. It is the perfect place for weekend exploration and is situated along the Lake Michigan coastline.
Train
Students can take the Metra train line from Lake Forest to downtown Chicago or Milwaukee for weekend excursions.
