Academics

Thrive as a Scholar

Our Academic Program instills a deep respect for intellectual values, allowing students to engage in challenging experiences that inspire intellectual curiosity, a global mindset, and a lifelong love of learning.

Fostering an intellectual life guided by a spiritual core is a hallmark of a Sacred Heart education. The academic atmosphere at Woodlands Academy provides an optimal learning environment that promotes an active exchange of thoughts and ideas among students and between students and faculty, while simultaneously promoting spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social-emotional well-being.

The Woodlands curriculum is designed to meet the various needs and demonstrated skills of each student. To accomplish this, Woodlands offers courses at various levels of rigor. These options are flexible and allow a student to stretch where she is ready and to offer additional support in areas where she experiences challenges.

  • Advanced Placement

  • Honors

  • College Prep Level 1

  • College Prep Level 2

Placement in these courses is based upon demonstrated skill development and the intellectual maturity necessary to succeed.

Block Schedule

Our block schedule allows for sufficient class time to deepen inquiry and offer workload balance to our students. Days are designated “Red” or “White,” which determines students’ daily schedules. Periods 1-4 meet on Red days, while Periods 5-8 meet on White days.

Community Time

Woodlands Academy's holistic approach to student development affords time for activities outside of the classroom. Our block schedule’s inclusion of daily Community Time provides opportunities for spiritual, academic, and co-curricular activities, and supports the building of leadership skills.
