Ninth Graders Empowered to Lead

In September, Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart's newest students took their first steps on paths to leadership in the school. First-year students took on leadership roles as Woodlands Academy Council of Representatives (WACOR) and Service Club Representatives. Each advisory has one student who serves as a representative for these two clubs. Advisories consist of small groups of peers and an adult advisor that meet every day. Representatives attend all WACOR and Service Club meetings, serving as a liaison between their advisory and the organization.

In addition, the class of 2023 chose their class leadership for the year. Multiple students prepared creative campaign posters and gave speeches in front of their peers leading up to the Class Officer elections on Tuesday, September 24.

First-year students elected their Class Officers:

  • President: Clara Bartusiak
  • Vice President: Mags Roemer
  • Secretary: Avery Brock
  • Treasurer: Abby Pace

"Through serving as elected representatives, students develop communication and advocacy skills that they will continue to develop throughout their time at Woodlands," says Dean of Students Emma Hindman '10. "We look forward to seeing what these passionate student leaders will bring to the Woodlands community."
