The Woodlands Academy theater department, led by Ms. Bev Adamczyk and Ms. Jennifer Brostrom, along with Director of Residence Life Ms. Lizzie Lotterer, announced the school year’s theatrical production lineup.
This fall, the department is proud to present "Emma," a playful 2022 stage adaptation by Kate Hamill of one of Jane Austen’s greatest novels. Set in a 19th century English village, “Emma” depicts the misadventures of a precocious and privileged young woman. The novel was re-interpreted in 1995 as the hit film “Clueless.” The production will take place on November 3, 4, and 5, 2023 at 6:00 pm in Woodlands’ Susan Saint James Performing Arts Center (PAC). Auditions will be held after school on Tuesday, September 5. Applications for behind-the scenes work will be also accepted at that time.
In the spring, Orchestra Director Mr. Matthew Hickey will join with the theater department as Woodlands presents “Legally Blonde: The Musical.” A 2007 adaptation of the 2001 film of the same name, the musical depicts the adventures of a young woman who follows her boyfriend to Harvard only to discover her own talent for the law. The production will take place on February 29, March 1, and March 2, 2024 at 6:00 pm in the PAC.
