About Woodlands

Where Girls Thrive

Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart, founded in 1858, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory day and boarding school for young women grades 9 through 12. Woodlands Academy is a member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools, which spans 41 countries and 25 schools in the U.S. and two in Canada. Linked philosophically and technologically, the network provides educational resources and collaborative opportunities for students and faculty.

As a Sacred Heart school with a long tradition of excellence, Woodlands prepares motivated young women for lives of courage and confidence, educating them to discover their purpose, cultivate their talents and passions, and commit themselves to service as citizens of the world.

Rooted in the Sacred Heart tradition, Woodlands Academy is a Catholic school that respects and seeks diversity in all its varieties: cultural, racial, religious, and socioeconomic. Our community represents many races, religions, and nationalities, and our academic and extracurricular programs promote global awareness and social responsibility.

Instilling Faith

Faith in self, in potential, in beliefs.
Faith in each other, and in the power of understanding the world.

Building Community

A community of risk-takers, of profound thinkers, and of informed leaders. A community of scholarship and of reciprocal respect, and of young women of the Sacred Heart.

Inspiring Courage

Courage to be brave, to be authentic, to speak up, to act, to leave an imprint for good. Courage to be global citizens empowered to change the world.

Our  Sacred Heart  Identity

Woodlands Academy is part of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools—25 schools across the U.S. and Canada—sharing nearly 200 years of Christian education values founded by Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat. Sacred Heart Schools share a belief in the values of Christian education.

Woodlands has nurtured this growth of not just myself, but also my relationship to my faith, by allowing me to see the perspectives of other people, such as taking World Religions and learning about our Abrahamic family of religions. It has allowed me to feel strong and central to my faith in a way that I don't think I would get at any other school.
