Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart has a long tradition of welcoming young women from all over the world as students. Our international student program provides the academic support and social opportunities that help the students make lifelong friends and earn a place at a U.S. college or university upon graduating. Living in the boarding school, students meet other young women with whom they share companionship, meals, outings and activities. The many clubs, sports and musical groups at Woodlands Academy offer students with special interests the opportunity to develop their talents and grow in their self-confidence.
The school supports each international student with three years of ESL (English as a Second Language) classes if necessary, until she achieves a score of 80 on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). ESL classes provide a foundation for English Language Learners to improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. It provides a supportive environment that focuses on each student's individual language needs and enables her to develop the cultural understanding and performance skills necessary to be successful in both academic and social situations.
The International Student Advisor works closely with the Residence Life staff and the Student Support Team to ensure that all international students adjust well to school life and achieve their potential.
Let us leave acts behind us, not just words.
