Woodlands encourages any student who wishes to develop her literary, journalistic, or artistic skills to contribute her talents to our student publications: The Woodlander, the school newspaper; L’Esprit, the yearbook; and La Nouvelle, Woodlands’ literary magazine.
La Nouvelle
La Nouvelle, Woodlands’ annual literary journal, is dedicated to promoting a deep appreciation for literature and other modes of artistic expression. Woodlands students spearhead virtually every aspect of La Nouvelle’s production. Poetry, fiction, and non-fiction submissions are solicited throughout the year, and La Nouvelle sponsors various school-wide writing contests in conjunction with the English Department. The publication also features visual art created by Woodlands Fine Arts students and staff.
L’Esprit
L’ Esprit
is the Woodands Academy yearbook. Students receive their copies in the early fall. The yearbook staff includes an Editor-in-Chief, Photo Editor, Copy Editor and Design/Layout Editor, plus class representatives. Students apply for editorial positions and are asked to attend a summer yearbook conference hosted at Woodlands Academy by Herff Jones. The 2009-10 school yearbook will be published on-line using the latest publishing software.
The Woodlander
The Woodlander
is the Woodlands Academy newspaper. Students lead every aspect of production, from pitching ideas for articles to copy editing and layout. Our staff includes writers, photographers, section editors, and an Editor-in-Chief. The top editors run meetings, decide on issue themes, and oversee all the steps involved in writing and publishing. We publish six full issues a year, and we hope that each Woodlander is a space for students to read about topics that we feel passionate about and to voice their own opinions.
