Letter from the Head

Dear Friends,

Welcome to Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart. When you visit our school on the web, you are visiting a school that is 142 years old and has been in Lake Forest for 101 years. In addition, you are visiting a school that is one of 22 schools in the Network of Sacred Heart Schools in the United States (sofie.org) and one of over 300 Sacred Heart Schools around the globe. You are also experiencing a school that shares a 206-year tradition of excellence in educating young women to be leaders in their communities. Amongst Sacred Heart graduates in the United States, you may recognize some, like Senator Dianne Feinstein of California and national news pundit and analyst Cokie Roberts. This is important for you to know because when a family joins one Sacred Heart school, they also join an international community with deep roots and successes in history.

Our school motto, Excellence in leadership: Women for Tomorrow, gives you an insight into our school's mission, its goals, and its philosophy. We built our curriculum and all of our activities on the best practices for girls. We draw upon solid research and continue to use that research to ensure that our girls are not only successful in everything they do but also that they become thriving members of our community.

Please enjoy your electronic visit to Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart and know that we would be very happy to meet you face to face so you, too, can experience the magic of our school. I assure you that it will be a visit that you will not forget.

Sincerely,

Gerald J. Grossman
